1 June
A large group of newly arrived
redbacks must have hit the Beach
Ridge just before I did. Many birds
along the stretch of exposed tundra.
Frequent descending trills, but no well
developed display yet, and birds still
associated in small groups. Collected 3
birds.
2 June
Not much exposed ground on the
Browerville Ridge system. Saw a number
of newly arrived birds - one group of 3
very actively chasing and burning calories
at an impressive rate over ca. 1/2 km. of
patchy exposure. The chase went on at
least 15 minutes.
3 June
Made a trip through the area - about
normal early activity. I worked up →
fl ew to gasoline ridge from polygons to North-
proceeds into nest cup display in front of
us, although no I was in sights. Gave
realia - realia note of worked up bird. On
Village Ridge a number of birds were trying
to get boundaries settled - much chasing
and display. Took 3 birds - probably 2♀
and a ♂.
4 June

at the No. 20 of P's Plot - again, it looked
