14 August (SM 816, 817) from feeding around a pond,
and 2 more (818, 819) from a flock standing
about, not feeding.
15 August Drove inland to Skroawik, largely
to see numbers and separation of adult
and immature red-backs. Saw scattered
birds all the way - mainly feeding around
ponds and the Denn Wedgel road, then
a flock of 20 adults on low polygonum
South of S. Footprint Lake. Saw no
birds on Holmes Skroawik plot.
16 August So. of Family Creek - a flock of
c. 30 that appeared to have a few
immatures. Collected 1- SM 822 - a ? of
light far.
18 August A flock of ca. 35 birds flying
about actively near traplines III A-B.
Collected 2- SM 825, 6. ? has moderate
far, or still light. Birds were feeding
largely in upland areas.
19 August On walk from camp to Browsville
saw many birds. First a flock of 15
immature (only) - supporting somewhat
Holmes' comments re. separation - in
pond by family creek. Other imm.
were encountered alone or with
small groups of imm. and adults all
along the way. Also saw several
