11 August About 30 birds with 40 pusilla
by ponds by reefer row - drum area.
Collected 1 - 811 809. these were about
the only birds in the area. Head 2
fly over tanglefoot TI, but saw none
in Central Marsh or over Beach Ridge.
12 August Scattered groups of birds at Birkirk
feeding with pusilla and turnstones.
Collected 1 - 811 # 813 - still light fare.
Probably was a total of 20 birds in the
area - not many - no sign of the large,
compact flock there a few days ago.
14 August Walked carefully over Holmes
Marsh from U.S.C. & G.S. to Wohlslag Slough.
Saw only 1 immature bird in the Marsh
itself - standing by a pond edge.
Finally found a flock of 45 - almost all
adults - feeding actively in the pond at
the mouth of Lewellyn's Wier, along
Wohlslag Slough. 7 or 8 were probably
immature birds. On turnora to the NE,
another 10 or so birds, feeding less
actively. Went back to weasel for
the shotgun. When I returned many
birds had moved onto turnora, but were
not feeding. 18 remained in the disturbed
pond - collected 1 : 811 815. then
went up to the turnora and took 2 birds
