MacLean
1967
C. alpina
24 July
with good grass cover.
26 July
Flock-up birds are abundant on
Beach Ridge along P's Plot and in Holmes'
Marsh.
29 July
Flocks↑ were not seen in the
same area in colour, windier, weather.
One adult with a flying immature; the
white wing flash on the immature is
very prominent - at first we tried to
call it a Sawingling.
30 July
Wanner weather again, and a
large number of birds around
Tanglefoot I. Must have been 20 or so
alpina with waders, Pluvialis, and
a dowitcher. Feeding was mainly pond
edge and wet tundra. Some birds are
also getting down to feed on the vessel
road by the corner of Central Marsh with
waders and pusillae. About 10 there
today. Others on the ridge, along
P's plot.
31 July
Saw an adult feeding along
gravel spit leading towards Nuvuk.
2 August
Wann weather; but found few
birds. None at Micro-Met or along
beach ridge. Finally found ca. 10 ad. and
immature feeding on disturbed wet ground
at corner of Central Marsh.
