MacLean 1965 C. alpina Probably nearing completion of clutch. Micro - Ner nest now has 4 eggs - 3 "normal" plus the odd one. 1 July 3 July Again checked red-back pair on N. slope of ridge. Appeared to be incubating, but could not find nest. 4 July Nest w/ 4 eggs ca. 125 m. W + S of C+6S shack. 5 July Pair near CREEL wagon with a nest waiting to be found. 9 July New nest - 3 eggs - NW of trapline IV.B. (#9). 11 July Most frequently encountered territorial sloebird around Herowick. (pectoral seen off territories.) Not doing much exciting. Collected one ♀ - (#428) - good brow patch, largest fold 2 mm.. Same spot collected ♂ pectoral still laying. 12 July Found new nest at cake-eater with 3 chicks (1 still wet) plus one pipped egg. First hatching. Hamilton cheeked both nest and found it too hatching. Last year hatching nests found on 3 July 13 July Collected ♂ at upper Voth area - apparently incubating. t = 6 x 4 mm, b.p. present.
