of ca. 20 feeding in drying up ponds
of Holmes' Marsh. May have been
same birds.
These are now the most evident, if not
most numerous shorebirds on the Tundra.
Numerous small flocks and individuals
seen in addition to above larger flocks.
1 August
Flock of ca. 30 — [illegible]
East of gasoline ridge. Feeding mostly in
drying up ponds in polygonal area.
1 August
Brood of at least 3 chicks, 2-3
days out of egg, running on top of
snow near NACS.
3 August
Numerous flocks of 17 to ca.
150 encountered on trip in land.
Almost always feeding along edges
of dry or drying ponds.
