C. melanothos
given up any thoughts of breeding -
completely (but loosely) social groups
of both sexes intermixed. Have heard
no display since 1 July.
6 July
AACS birds have given up the
effort. Feeding completely socially, with
no apparent regard for sex.
Hears one "boom" aerial display by
traplines IVA-B. Apparently everyone hasn't
given up.
7 July
Observes and collects along Voth
Creek. Highly social and unsettled -
flew readily along creek. Collects 3
after feeding observations - (1) regresses
♂, t=5mm - throat region much regresses;
(2) ♀ coming up 2nd time - old brood
patch + ruptures follicles, but enlarges
ova; (3) ♀ with brood patches inactive
through for the year. Apparently there
has been enough activity to keep ♀ (2)
active.
