Maclean 1965 C. melanotos 30 June Observed Central Marsh flock while watching for Mongolian Plover. One ♂ appears to be more advanced or excited than others - initiates two ☺ territorial classes, then gave grounds display to feeding ♀. Very well developed display. ♀ moves away ca. 10 ft, then flew when ♂ continues display. ♂ follows. Joined by others until 5♂♂ chasing ♀. Finally took off when all resumed feeding. Am wondering if flock can disperse and complete reproductive effort in time to produce young. Am also wondering if they are even going to try! 1 July NACS pectorals are in no hurry; still largely social with bursts of reproductive activity. Mostly courtship classes involving several ♂♂ + 1♀ or shorter territorial classes w/ "garthig" note. Occasional aerial display. 2 July Seem to be fewer birds + less activity in brief check. 3 July ♂ + 2♀ by road crossing or beach ridge. May be ret'n area. 5 July Occasional bird encounters along S edge of Holmes' Marsh - some apparently territorial, but encountered 2♂♂ together. Birds in Central Marsh appear to have
