Maclean 1965 C. melanostr normally goes pectoral country. If so, it's going to waste. Saw a total of 2♂♂ and 1♀. Saw 2 courtship chases plus displays by both ♂♂. Got goose feeding observations on the beasts. 22 June One pair, mostly feeding, at East end of Marass. Others should have been here, but weren't. 23 June As before, very scattered with some display - this time in Voth area. ♀ collected- 25 June Saw a total of about 6 displaying ♂♂ - most to date. One ♂ at AACS chased ♀ twice, displayed. Also chased away displaying white- rump and red-back. ♀♀ are rarely seen. Here, they are staying low. Four ♀ dead on snow near gas line, N. of micro-met. [illegible] 26 June Again ♂♂ seen without ♀♀ anywhere in area - this time in Holme's Marass. 27 June Flock of ca. 16 (±4) - approx. equal number of ♂♂ and ♀♀ - forms in AACS marsh.
