28 May
First shorebirds seen! Two on
Gasoline Ridge, ca. 100 m. apart.
Closer bird called as I approached,
then flew towards other. Both flew
short distance, then landed <10m. apart.
Another lone bird farther down Gasoline
Ridge. Two birds standing quietly
<2m. apart on Beach Ridge, just
SW of CREEL wariigan.
12 June
Are definitely paired and regularly
spaced along N. edge of Wohlstag
Slough. appear to be 3 pair (maybe 4)
from CREEL area to Elsa Lagoon.
13 June
As before - definitely paired and
regularly spaced on dry, uplands type
tundra. Saw several birds in aerial
display, but not whole flock of a lot.
14 June
Likewise - S edge of Holmes Morass.
Easy to collect feeding data. Still not
much display.
15 June
Not a display seen in miserable condition.
16 June
Several pairs observed on territories, but
no display.
24 June
Birds are consistently paired,
regularly encountered, and occasionally
hear displaying - nothing spectacular
or particularly worthy of note. Numbers
seem somewhat down if anything, but
