Maella 1964 C. melanozus 2 chase off other o7 long enough to get in. No such luck. o7 chased by o7 semi-pal - flew ca. 20 ft - returns to o7 SP, gave "battering ram" display [illegible] - lean over body level, "leerles". Did sane to Baird & ano Buff Breast (see?) Bico w/ broken wing found on beach ridge, near micro-wet. 16 June Abundant in wet habitats. Aggressive toward Buff-Breasts, Bircos, White-Rumps, Semi-Pals. 18 June Abundant in marshes E. of gas-line. Often encountered groups of 3-5 o7 showing intermittent aggression - would sit 5-10 ft. apart, then suddenly chase. After chase often dansen together again. 20 June Flock of at least 14 o7 seen near center of Pitelka Plot. Appears to be conflict of aggressive and gregarious tendencies- birds unsettles, move frequently within flock. Movement of one causes movement of adjacent birds - "chain reaction" of part to all of flock, often resulting in short chase and flock resettlement. o7 flew into flock, assumed aggressive posture, charges 1 of flock 3 times, until this flew. Repeats with another; continues until 6 separate members of flock forces to take flight. Flew ca. 20 yes.
