2nd in abundance (after White-rump)
along beach ridge and gas line ridge.
Aerial display frequently seen and heard: fly
ca 10 ft above ground with breast inflated
giving deep, pulsating "electronic beep" sound.
It's appear to outnumber F's ca 2/1. F's
often chased by M's - 1 or 2. M displays
to by white-rump. Another M chased by
w-r.
Evening - most abundant shorebird
in Voth area, especially Voth bluffs.
2 M's displaying to F. Fly by observers,
but stop beep and glide on level wings,
throat less distended.
11 June
None seen in Drum area.
12 June
One or groups in center of area announced
and defended by white-rump. Displayed once.
13 June
None in marsh between Pow & Fresh Lake.
One M seen in grass in E.Fresh Lake marsh.
Quiet.
15 June
Very common in wetter marshes. Still
2-3 M/M / F.
Groups courtship 3 of AACS - F leaning
forward, tail up . M approaches from
behind in bobbing, upright posture, moving
throat region. continues ca. 8-10 sec -
interrupted by another M, chased and returned,
