Maclear
1968
C. bairdi:
3 July
there are 3 known 3-egg nests in
the drum area now, and probably more.
this late burst is amazing; there are young
out as eggs are being laid.
4 July
the two close nests remain with 3 eggs
each.
5 July
three eggs they shall be. Gabriel took one
nest and added the eggs to the other. So it
is clear now that late clutches are more likely to
stop at 3 eggs. this is surely a factor in the
1965 situation.
