MacLea 1967 C. bairdii 3. 18 June Not a single bird seen in good upland, polygonized tundra East of footpit Lake. 19 June Birds are still fairly abundant and active in the Drum area, but nearly absent elsewhere. Karl has found only 2 nests in the Drum area, but there are more, and other pairs appear to be still laying. Saw more pairs near Beck Construction Camp, but no others along bluffs SW of Village, down to Nunivac Slough. 22 June Caught a nesting bird in the Drum area by laying the insect net next to the nest and flipping it over when the bird settled onto the eggs. Bandeo this bird. Tried the same on a new nest (4 eggs) that I found just East of the pipeline and just missed. In the evening caught and banded the one bird from the nest near the water line. These should help us answer the question of who incubates whos in this species. 23 June Found a 4-egg nest just west of the gas line and South of the one found yesterday.
