of flocking individuals) - #286, 287, 288.
#286 - as ♀. Broo patches present, but non-
vascular. Molt in initial stages - summer
plumage still apparently complete. #287 - as ♂ -
molt to fall plumage nearly complete.
#288 - as ♂ - molting heavily, but not as
far along as 287.
17 July
Checker gaslino Ridge traplines. Flock
still in same area - W. of Ridge. Adult
giving distraction display - W. side of ridge,
near parking area. Adult w/ 4 chicks
together with adult Baird and 3 chicks
moving N. along W. edge of No. Measow
lake.
18 July
Adult w/ 3 chicks in wet mead
(6A 3 3) across Volsellag Slough on
road to fertilizer plot.
19 July
Presumed ♀ - lone bird flying
actively around fixed area; calling,
but not giving distraction displays -
collected. (Maclcan, #296). ♀ - beginning
molt (heavy on head; light elsewhere).
Brood patch present - non vascular.
