Flock of ca. 18 along top and W. side
of gasoline ridge, flying actively. On E. side-
1 bison acting as if clicks near.
16 July
Arthcal Maest - N. of Gasoline Ridge-
flock of ca. 5 white-rumps + 7 pectorals.
Joined temporarily by 2 iso-backs, 1 neo-
phalascope. Flying and feeding as group.
2 white-rumps collected (Maclean 285,
289) - flock dispersed into 2 groups - pectorals
separate. #285 - ca. 07. very light weight,
molt processing. #289 - 20. P. molt just
beginning - heavy on head, none elsewhere.
Birds collected with 1 shot when flock
standing up in 10 ft. circle. (i.e. - no doubt that
these were flocking.
In same area - bison distinct from
flock, and remaining in 1 area, and
giving alarm calls and distraction
displays collected. (#284). Molt similar
to #289 - but less on head. i.e.- least
molt of all collected. Brood patches present
and vascular. [I forgot to mention - #289-
no brood patches present.] [illegible]
Near parking area for gasoline
ridge, and over polygonal area to
North - flock of ca. 25 flying actively.
Winds break into smaller flocks for
5 min +, then regroup. 3 birds collected.
