Coliornis pusilla
7 June
Saw 2 birds feeding actively around
a melt-pan in the middle of Berrow
Village.
9 June
Suddenly they are here commonly
and are displaying all over the place.
Nearly every bit of exposed tundra
has dispersing flocks, with chases
and aerial display, and even ground
display. A number of these new arrivals
are banded - has to be careful to
avoid collecting these. took 5-211 1026-
1030.
In one case, we may have seen a
pair formation. One bird was displaying
actively, then flew aggressively at another
bird that landed nearby. This bird did
not respond, even when the display
cockered his tail and gave a burst of ground
display. The latter then calmed down, and
when the former flew about 20 m. to a
new feeding location, the latter flew with
it to remain ca. 1 m. away.

Many birds in the area and
activity level is quite high. In the
drum area the activity level is
much higher than the amount of
exposed ground would dictate.

Nothing new to report, I think
