Maclean 1964 C. p. 28 June 6:20 P.M. - Semi.Pal #1 - nest in Drum area - 1 chick out of egg. Still wet. Shell removed. 2 eggs - shell broken through, cracked. 1 egg - pipping - no crack or hole. 29 June 5:00 P.M. - All chicks out of shell. 1 in nest cup. Shells removed. Other 3 chicks not seen. 12:00 midnight - nest cup empty. 1 chick 10 ft. away - others not seen. This chick attended by 1 adult - another gave alarm calls. 8 July Remest of pair SP 2 - found 21 June ca. 50 ft from old nest cup (abandoned or lost after eggs hatched) now battles (?) - 3 eggs gone - no shell. 1 egg still present, color. Taken - no visible embryo. 10 July Chick (Maclean - 270) taken from E. end of barrel area (1 6A 3 3), near pond edge. At least 2 others with several adults. At least 3, and probably 4, adults in immediate area of chicks giving alarm calls, flying excitedly.
