MacLea 1967 C. alba 7 June A newly arrived flock of about 16 sandpipers was feeding v. actively at Nuvuk. Birds were feeding in melt ponds on sphagnum-dominated tundra - jabbing into water about 4 cm. deep. Birds were obviously visually searching. Wanted to collect, but found I had 12 ga. shells for the 16 ga. shotgun. 8 June A lone bird was collected on P's plot - a 07. Bird was gleaning the top of a wet mound, between flooded channels. 10 June Watched a flock of ca. 8 widely spaced birds feeding around edges of melt pond in gravel by Voth Road Trct.
