DuVal, E.H. 2002 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 14 Apr 2002 I found a nest with one chick, 2 days old today - near the bottom of the FBE road (E-14). Evidence that there's more nest-searching to be done! I'll stake the nest tomorrow. Again, the birds seemed particularly active in the afternoon. Julie saw a near-copulation act BTR that included 2-male display. There have been a surprising number of solo male displays that were effective this year. So if cooperation is not obligate, what are the conditions that lead to it, or why does it exist? Are females visiting perches multiple times, or coming back to those they like to see solo displays? Do we ever record multiple visits? We have good evidence of "slipping" with BoB moving between perches & ultimately copulating - but it doesn't seem that her mind was already made up if she visited several perches serially before making her choice... I saw the first ovenbird I've seen in a long while today - foraging in the leaf litter near SLN2
