This was a day of ups and downs. The down part was really just my stupidity - I managed to step squarely in a large pile of human diarrhea while doing a watch at BRI. But I also recorded the first copulation of the year (RGW(DM) copulated with AYR(G) at BTE1 after an entirely solo display) and found the start of the first nest along the path to the beach below our rancho. Amelia is leaving the island for her birthday, so we danced and had an early birthday celebration in the evening.

Eileen & John may not be coming tomorrow - they were supposed to call, but I didn't hear from them via phone or email. We're just carrying on as usual, & I'll be delighted if they come.
