DoVal, E.H. 2002 Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 20 March 2002, continued 20 March, can't Silvador. The book (Amphibians & Reptiles of Middle America, in German) says that a 2m Clelia was found with a 1.8m Bothrops inside its stomach. Of course, the book also says that Clelia are non-aggressi... Beca found two nests today that are either old or under construction. I'm not at all sure that they're LIMA nests - they have an over-abundance of black rhizomes & seem a bit sloppier than usual, but that may just be from degradation. Julie found an antshrike nest along the LOTES trail that is just 3-5m from the one found by a tourist last year. Are antshrikes nest-site faithful? During my GUL 2 watch, a DM chased a vireo out of the dp area, though there was no F present. Vireos seem to be nest-prospecting right now, & it would be very inconvenient to have a hyper-territory vireo couple in the middle of one's display area.... How common is manakin inter-species territoriality? I did a watch at WE3 & there is definitely an unb DM in regular attendance. We'll have to get there soon.
