Do Val, E, H. 2002 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 17 March 2002 Ryan was chased by another large (8" diameter (?) ) "Silvador" snake today, this time at GUL 2. Becca + I were cutting data at SBE (on the beach) when he came dragging out of the forest. This clearly exceeds his expectations from the "occasional snakes" I mentioned in my field assistant ad - mine too! Becca + I were netting at SNK in the morning and caught one on G. In the afternoon, we recovered Ryan's hat + the tripod (thrown at the snake) from GUL 2 , then set nets at WE4 for tomorrow. I managed to whack myself in the right eye with a large spiny vine, and spent a good two hours with my eye vet-wrapped shut (courtesy of Becca). Vision in that eye was very blury for the rest of the day.
