Duval, E.H. 2005 Journal Isla Boca Brau, Chiriqui, Panama; 19 June cont. I intended to come home early after just one watch to review the data and see where we stand with knowing alpha/beta status around the site. Instead, I staked nest S-15 (that hatched today) and saw FGal G (G) mobbing It seems that she was banded with the aluminum over her last color band, making her bands look like FGB. Whoops! Seeing the final "G" makes it all clear, but we need to change her bands. I also found a nest with two LARGE chicks - so large that I was afraid they'd fledge while I was doing a 1-hour watch at MAN. They didn't, and I banded x bled them while WBW (G) mobbed me. The MAN watch was surprisingly busy - this is the only site that seems active right now! (though I did hear QR between the MAN & HEL gullies). The males did nonstop duets separated by "searching" PF-1 or PF-2. There were at least 3 DM's in the area. The others had slow watches, as in other recent days. Nevertheless, my afternoon gave me renewed hope for productive data collection.
