DuVal, E.H. 2005 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama June 13 EHD and JK left for Boquete for a few days before JK leaves for the States. Yesterday EHD netted at BTE and had some unexpected issues with badly? caught birds or at least previously injured birds and then stressed by being caught in mistnet. At almost 7pm last night chicks from J-I nest (? RWY) were still hungry. ? was caught in net and had lacerations on face and leg, cause unknown. Today we confirmed that she did indeed abandon nest. After feeding chicks at nest all morning, we then took the larger chick to nest at Wel 4 (E-63) to see if ? would foster. The other chick we brought to the cabin. AGA indeed did adopt chick with no problems. Anne saw RWY(?) in the pm at DPO and appeared to have a hurt (broken?) leg. JYL June 14 AGA is still taking care of chick in nest (E-63). Our baby in the cabin is eating/defecating well. I collected some berries that I have seen adults eating, at a tree near the crossroads. It rained in the morning for 1 1/2 hours, and off and on in the pm. Steve did data entry in the am and took care of the chick, while Anne took over this m? afternoon. Temp 74°F - 85°F. Rain gauge checked and has 6.5cm since last time checked (a few or more days). JYL All experimental eggs still present.
