DAY OFF
June 10, 2005 off and on rain all day. Julian was able to squeeze all his playbacks in today and did an extra one as he is one day behind.
Steve stalked J-1 and got the ? RWY (g) and Anne bird/banded chicks. I got YAA (g) at J-2 and bled her chick. We started the experimental nest project today. The eggs were all washed yesterday and placed in nests today with gloves so no smell would be on them. Eight sites were done today + the 7 other will be for tomorrow. About 6 nests had to have some sewing adjustments.
Temp 74°-85°F. JYL
Field notes by EHO:
June 2005 Rain in the late morning, not too heavy. (10:30 - 11:00)
We all did watches in the morning. While at EDM, I saw one of the two banded Black-hooded Antshrike females (B/B). She perched high over EDUS for a long time, and foraged high in the trees. At least one of them didn't tear their bands off! In the afternoon, Steve and I set four nets in the BTE/GULY area and netted until 5:30 but caught nothing. Anne & Julie put quail eggs in the experimental nests in the last 7 lines of nests. Julian did playbacks.
