DoVal, E.H. 2005 Journal Boquete, "Mi Jardin Es Su Jardin" garden, Chiqui highlands, Panama. 10 May Weather: clear and sunny, no rain Julian Kapoor and I left at 0900 from Isla Boca Brava to go on a one-night "vacation" in honor of his birthday. We took Chino Loco's bus to Horocito, and got a lift from "Pollo" (Ruben) Villalobo to David. In David, we called Finca La Suiza (near Fortuna, Chiriqui) to arrange for a room, but were told they were full for the night. Instead, we went to Boquete where we settled in at "Suenos del Rio" along the main river that runs through town. We walked through town and uphill toward the Sendero de los Quetzales, stopping at Cafe Ruiz for a coffee. It was already quite late, so instead of attempting to make it to the foot of the Sendero, we stopped at "Mi Jardin es Su Jardin," a privately-owned garden that's open to the public. The gardens are manicured and decorated with whimsical statues and buildings, and there was abundant birdlife. We birded for a while, had a picnic, & headed home to "Suenos." species: Red-legged Honeycreeper 8F - 4 Clay-colored Thrush (feeding fledglings) - 10 Blue-and-white Swallow - 20 House Wren - 2
