DuVal, E. H. 2005 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 30 Apr. [can't] over the field site bandy and bleeding chicks in various nests. The weather was tourist-perfect (which means it was awful for manakin activity - sunny and clear). It got briefly cloudy in the afternoon just long enough to let Julian get a few cue-crew shots recorded. 1 May 2005 "Red" the second attempt at raising a manakin chick, is coming along nicely. He gained one gram since yesterday (wow) and is eating a lot. I'm feeding him Micnic fruit, Himelie fruit, and Xact brand baby bird food. He eats it all with gusto. We each spent part of the day dealing with our out-of-central data. I disengaged into dealing with the reviews of the plumage paper for Carder - It looks like I'll have to go to David this Wednesday to handle that. The NSF reviews (IRFP grant) were generally positive, and all said encouraging things about Bart Kempenaers and his lab group. All also emphasized that I need to publish what I've done so far. Guess I'd better reformat the DPM paper and get it back out - but to where? Behavioral Ecology? I did watches in the afternoon and Anne babysat Red.
