Duval, E.H. 2002 Journal 2002 8 March, continued Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 8 March I've heard or seen GTBR's on this part of the island. Does that mean that it's becoming more disturbed & open, & therefore better suited to them? Ryan & I saw a smallish grey falcon, slightly larger than a merlin & with a dark moustache mark, flying over Main St. between ACA & FBE. It was a good day for new birds. We did watches around the study site, as before, & Julie saw the males at SBE 2 dance for a female - finally! This is the first dancing for a female we've seen in 2002. I observed RYV aggressively chasing BPY at FBE 2. Did we ever establish that BPY was & in previous years, or was it just a hunch? Is RYV stepping up in the ranks by force (!) or just reinforcing the way things were? There was a giant iguana (~6' head to tail) in a tree over the pigs' enclosure after lunch. INTERESTING MAWAKIN NOTE: RSP (RC/scBF) was seen hovering before a spider web & plucking at it, with the spider in the middle. It wasn't clear whether he was attempting to
