Dukal, E.H. 2005 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 16 April 2005 - clear and sunny for most of the day We seem to be having a revival of the summer we never had- little rain, dry clothes, Frank fretting over water (because of a broken pump, though not because the wells are dry). I didn't net any more unbanded females with chicks today, simply because I was wearing myself out on that task. Instead I did five watches, and vegged the nests out by Claus's house. At my acacia area watch, a Little Tiranow walked by and I got a great look at it- only my second tinamou sighting in all these years. Anne saw her first manakin copulation (at FBE2) today - which makes two consecutive days of copulating manakins for us. We seem to be entering the second round of nests. I found three empty nests today, and maintain hope that they will soon have eggs. I went to check nest E-47 ("The World's Highest Manakin Nest") and found a baby still in the nest. As I winched the branch over to where I could reach it, though, this baby fledged in a perfect flutery flight to a high branch.
