Duval, E. H. 2002 Journal Isla Bocu Brava, Chirgui, Panama 4 March 2002 We went to four "new" dance perch areas today to expand everyone's working knowledge of the island (BTR, BTE, GUL, EDM). Everything was still extraordinarily quiet. After lunch at the restaurant we decided to explore rather than doing watches, as the North Wind had blown up again and was keeping the manakins silent. We hiked down Main St. to CCL5, around "Frank's New Road" to CCL 1 & 4, to SNK 1, & down the gully to the beach trail. From there I let Julie, Becca, & Ryan guide us to SBE1, SLN1, BTR, x FRE. They did wonderfully, & I have high hopes that finding these display perches will soon be second nature. It was 85° F in the evening - cool & breezy. 5 March 2002 The North Wind was still ferocious this morning, so we opted to hike through Mangrove rather than doing early watches.
