DuVal, E.H. 2004 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov, Panama 2 April 2004 During my watch this afternoon at CCL I saw WBR DM copulate with an unb g, with no help from his partner. Everything was quite normal throughout the display except an unexpected visit from a Swainson's thrush to the dance perch. WBR was trying to convince the unb g to stay on the DP since she had left two times prior before the thrush appeared. The thrush landed on the dance perch right next to the g. WBR came immediately to scare him off, but instead the thrush grabbed WBR's leg with his mouth and hung on until WBR grabbed the thrush's head with his mouth. With some squealing the birds tumbled to the ground. The thrush left and WBR didn't miss a beat - he continued with the display which ended in a copulation. The unb g didn't seem to mind the interruption. Julia Young-Larion
