We went to David for the last time
today and while there I sent a fax to
ANAM (Krustaya de Mel Ibelice
and Emilice ) requesting export permits. I
requested permission for 150 blood samples,
two male specimens, one female specimen, and
four nests. I left the restaurant phone number
as a contact # in case there are problems, though
I have little hope of receiving the message if
it comes. I submitted an abstract for the
July ABS meeting in Boise, ID and sent an
email to Biff (Eldredge) Berningham asking
for someone to contact about identifying
plant specimens in the STRI herbarium when
we pass through Panama City on May 14.
When we got back to the restaurant, there
was an insect invasion in progress. Clouds
of flying ants were circling the lights in
the restaurant and they were in everyone's
food, hair, clothes, drinks... A heap had formed
beneath the bug zapper and a tub of water left
under a light was fully layered with ants.
This is in response to yesterday's big rain, I
guess - the rainy season has arrived!
