Duval, E.H. 2003 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 22 April 2003 I prepared for the next-last?-two alpha removals today. I made a list of the nine eligible display areas and used the random subsampling function of JMP to choose my targets: WELY and ADS. A closer review of the WELY data sheets showed that we aren't yet positive whether the alpha is YAR or WPA. I did a slow 1-hour watch there with no progress on that. In the afternoon, stormclouds started gathering and there was a light shower, after which the manakins were active all over the study site. I did a 1-hour watch at ADS and afterward saw those males dance for a female twice. I put up one net^now closed, of course for tomorrow. I also saw dancing for a female at FBE1/2, and Julie saw dancing for a female at BTR in the afternoon. Last night was our first solid rainstorm in a very long while. I estimate + 3/4 inch of rain fell in a short amount of time (< 2 hrs). The whole day today was humid + overcast + still!
