Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama 14 June 2002 I netted for BSY at SNK today, though with only two 6m nets. There aren't many places where that bird flies - as attested by his long stint of unbandedness. I'm having a hard time balancing the opposing pulls of removing alpha males, catching unbDh's while I can, and doing observations to try to boost the sample size just a little more. Masked Tityrae have been active on the island lately. Becca saw them at GUKZ in the last week, and I've heard them several times there and in other parts of the study site. A Grey-necked Woodrail walked by me about 15 feet away as I was waiting to check nets at SNK. His legs & eyes were both a stunningly bright red. I also surprised a Little Hermit who flew to his display perch four feet away from me as I was nest-searching. I froze and he fluffed out his feathers, stuck out his tongue repeatedly, & bobbed his tail (but didn't sing). Finally I had to continue & he left in great alarm. I staked nest E-29 and the female is an unb SNK.
