Today was a slow start for all - slowest
for Ryan who opted to stay home and
nurse a not-too-serious cold. I set the
video camera at SBE3, hoping for some
better-quality pictures of dancing for
females; then I crossed out set nets at
SBE1, targeting AWP for removal to
Isla San Jose. I did eventually catch
AWP at nearly 5:00, and couldn't find a
boat to take me anywhere. Frank
eventually came back from 'checking the valves'
and very graciously took me to the mainland
directly east of Boca Brava. It's a bit
farther away than Lirante, but still very close.
We thought of keeping him in the cage overnight,
but he was quite shocky and wasn't moving
around much. He was perched on the lowest
PVC support beam of the cage when I took
him out, & he didn't resist at all. We did
feed him some strained banana mixed
with water at 6:00pm. When the banana
water was dripped onto his beak, he
drank it fairly readily.
Other highlights for today: I found two
intact eggs below the entirely collapsed
E-35 nest. I intended to blow out the
