Duval, E.H. 2002 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiquí, Panamá 20 May 2002 This morning I found the captive DM, AYA, death on the floor of his cage. It appears that he never did eat, and that his high activity & metabolism rates plus non-existent fat did him in: he was directly below the perch where he had roosted the previous night. Becca, who is much better at specimen prep than I am, spent the entire morning skinning him. I forgot to mention that we should save tissue samples and syninx, and she discarded the body before I returned home in the afternoon. She did measure the testes, however. 21 May 2002 We all went to David today, and Becca began her vacation. I went with Becca & Ryan to the immigration office to extend their visas. That went smoothly, but when I tried to buy my tourist card the woman in charge pointed out (rather severely) that I was not properly stamped into Panamá. When I entered at Guabito, they stamped "salida" instead of "entrada". After much arguing about how I couldn't afford the time or money to go to the other side of Panamá and have the Guabito office fix things, I had to give in. I got a letter stating that I was on my way to correct a clerical error, just in case I was stopped by police
