DuVal, E.H. 2001 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 25 November 2001 Watchers today: PTW: SBE, EDM, ACA EHD: CCL, BTR, BRI There was a good amount of activity this morning - it seems that mandrels are more active early in the day during the rainy season. I saw WBR and AB(A) dancing for a female (on the dance perch) at CCL 1 (the old CCL 3, across the gully). AB- did the swoop display, but it wasn't clear that WBR had left the dp. I'm not sure that this is a dominance indicator, but it's interesting because alpha's have done the swoop in the past, & I remembered WBR as alpha at this site. Perhaps roles are reversed, or perhaps I had it wrong & ABA is the alpha? I started thinking seriously today about hiring a field crew manager. Maybe Katie? Frank says he will rent me two ranchos for $15 a night, together, if I want four people here this year. It could probably be worth it. Is it $450/mo - just like paying rent! Little hermits are still displaying in the CCL area. They started last June!
