DuVal, E.H. 2001 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 24 May can't stream in the direction from which he had come. That's the first grison I've ever seen! Then ARA slow-flighted for a ? , & like ARA & BOW both danced for a female. Still no copulations seen at BRI. But ARA "eeked" 14 times (~every 30 seconds) during the dance. At the end, the ? took off- & so did BOW. Could they have just gone somewhere else? Maybe the female does choose between the males of a pair? ARA slow-flighted hopefully for another minute. Otherwise, the day was a slow one. Even SBEI was slow. 25 May 2001 I leave tomorrow for a nearly-week-long vacation, so I've been arranging & re-arranging the schedule for Eric, who will be holding down the fort for us. Today was a red-letter me because I checked nest E-31 and, through flushing the female & laterstaking the nest, & eventually figured out that the female was VVB, #37 : the only undated bird I don't have blood from, & the mom of the dead-in-the-nest R-2 chicks.
