I thought nothing of it at first, & then saw a large mustelid descending from the opposite stream bank. He had a black face & legs, a grizzled grey back & tail, and a yellowish-white stripe across his forehead extending back to the shoulders. He waded into the water & drank, then climbed up onto the west bank & slowly wandered to about three feet of where I was sitting. He kept stopping to sniff the air, but I seemed to be downwind.
