21 May can't very much the breeding season.
22 May 2001
We continued to run nets at CAS,
but only caught two birds all morning
(+ one escaped). The wind picked up
at 9:00 am and stayed strong all
the rest of the morning, making
mistletoe net to impossible.
In the afternoon Katie & I took
turns staking R-8, but on my
watch the chick was gone &
BPV was mobbing me with all her
heart. Either the chick was just
eaten, or had fledged in the last
few hours & she was defending it.
Got her bands, anyway, & Eric took
blood from the chick yesterday.
Eric took his weekly day off &
went into David for email access,
but hasn't yet returned (as of 11:15pm).
I found a record 7 nests
today (2 technically on John's land).
