Last night the rain filled our rain gauge to overflowing. Katie and I netted at cascada this morning, with an attentive audience of construction workers - Claus's house is being built right by the leh. The third bird of the day was an unbanded TC ? whose left wing was injured in the net. She was unable to fold the primaries in properly, and unable to fly. So, after a little soul-searching, I euthanized her. My first attempt at thoracic compression. It works. Miserable day. She had an egg inside - more on the way - her ovaries were well-developed, 1 or 2 large eggs was more developed than the rest, in addition to the egg passing through her system.
Eric found a nest with one chick out in Mangrove - as of yet no bands seen on the female for sure. Hopefully the chick will still be alive tomorrow and we can stab it. Eric is still sick, but wait - admit it. E-AQ unexpectedly has 4 new eggs in it. Huray! Still!
