We netted at Bridge this morning and it was
crazy as usual. We closed the nets just after 11:00
& had caught 18 manakins & a lot of interesting
bycatch, including a blue-crowned motmot &
a pair of red-legged honeycreepers that were
so close in the net that they had their
claws locked. We only caught one of
the 3 TMs who seem to be displaying
regularly there (YPB) - I hope we'll get
ARA & BOW tomorrow.
The afternoon was devoted to watches. We
tried to fit in 2 2-hr. watches each to
wake up for going to David on Monday
instead of Tuesday. I dallied & found the
yellow-+black snake down by the beach below
our house. The alarm calls of 3t bird species
(manakins incl.) gave him away. I took
pictures on roll 2 (the first roll of
slide film) and hopefully we can work
out an ID from those.
The peace corps volunteers from
all of Chiriqui are at the restaurant
for their quarterly meeting. Not the
group that I expected them to be!
We bought chacaras from Jae ---, who
grew up in Indialantic -at least for a few years.
