DoVal, E.H. 2001 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chirgri Prov., Panama 4/27/01 Eric & Katie did 4 full watches each today while I netted for the two unbanded females who currently have nests with chicks. I caught the one at WEC3 (nest K-2) immediately i banded her YGW. The ? at E-16 (between ACA x BTR) was more difficult I caught BOB x ROY before the cubG was finally in the net (now GGW), & it took nearly two hours. Strong wind in the middle of the night for ~ 1 hour ; from the south for once! The birds are starting to dance again, at long last. Or, I should say, the females are shopping again. I found a nest in the gully across main st. & slightly East of FBE, in the same tree as RAG's nest last year. That inspired me to go searching for BOY's nest by FBE, & I saw a bird (GF) there but found no nest. Frank cut down E-21 (failed) & hung it in the restaurant as evidence of our work. Good thing we already did the veg survey! Mental note: don't move the blogs on the failed nests TOO close... I took blood from Paco to sex him genetically. Paco = Yablony orange-chinned parakeet chick the genetic gender ID is a present from me to Vicki.
