DuVal, EH 2001 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 25 Apr. 2001 We did watches as usual today. 2 nests had new chicks, but we've had a hard time getting bands on the females. Lots of nest-stalking where no female ever comes. I vagged 6 failed nests today, & we finally got the nest sheets in order. BY (DM) was @ SP4 with a horde of unb RCs. 3+ RCs QRing at once! At least a few were banded. Also a banded CB QRig with red cups there. Nest E-9 failed afterall. The chicks (10 d. old) were gone, & the striped band that I put on one of them to tell them apart was left sitting in the nest! I don't really know how THAT happened. 26 Apr. 2001 I target-netted two unbanded females with chicks in the nest, & Eric & Katie managed 4 full watches each to compensate. I found a nest in the same tree as RAG's nest last year. No eggs yet, but it bolsters the theory that the females are extreme site-faithful.
