Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama' [14 Apr ca01] to her - no wing-fluttering) in return. While perched below the fledgling, the manakin craned her neck all around, peering at the baby. I have no idea what her intentions were. Another Q (-Y-) was in the immediate area, though perhaps only because she was constructing a nest a few meters away. A third interesting observation was a flycatcher (yellowish belly, wide bill, white egestripe) stealing nest materials from an un- finished manakin nest just around the corner & up the hill at bridge. (E-N) We presently have 23 active nests, altogether: 4 have failed (may be inaccurate - Reader needs to update his nest section of the folder), + 22 that haven't yet had eggs. Many in that last category seem to have been abandoned before the ? even finished construction. Are our flags disturbing them? Hard to say. One of the R nests has a female who persists in sitting on it, even though it's still empty after a week.
