Dobal, E.H. 2001 April 13 - Eric's birthday Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 13 March 2001 - Isla Boca Brava Today we began training for behavioral observations. I began by trying to explain all the variables we record and realizing how difficult it is to comprehend them all at once. We went to EDM 1 and BRI 2 as a group and did a 2-hr. observation at each place. It reaffirmed the need to do two hour observations, as not much happens for long periods of time. We had a surprisingly hard time with reading bands - I guess I'd forgotten how difficult it really is. ARA was at bridge, and Eric saw RB-(DM) - perhaps RBB still is in power? One major sampling problem is that the sampling is not well-defined. How far away does a down-whistle have to be before it doesn't get counted?
