Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama
26 June 2000 no rain until 4:00; ~2mm
Today was our last full day on the island. We each did a farewell observation at the display perch of our choice. Kat chose Bridge 2, Mark chose 2nd Beach '/3 (population station'), and I ended up at CCS after some morning packing.
I tried without success to leave the camcorder recording at the dance perch while I went to collect veg samples. I took Theresa + Jurnita's picture, as promised, and will mail them a copy via Frank. I tried my best to bleed the far-too-young chicks of E-26. I got a small drop of blood from the older one by pricking him directly in the thigh. The wing vein does not work for such young birds! I failed to get any blood from the younger sibling. The older baby had a 5 healing sore from mosquito bites.
Packing took forever. Yadira found a baby boa on the back of one of the restaurant chairs, and Mark, Kat, and I passed him around, to the horror of the locals who believe they're venomous.
