Behavior watches were interrupted by the afternoon rains and the fact that the coffee maker(s) (hotpot and dragonfly stove) were broken. We had a cup of coffee in the restaurante before returning to continue veg work on M-1. The world was a much happier place after a little caffeine.
While in the restaurante we met Lionel, the head of ANAM for Chiriqui. He wants us to survey the birds on Isla Parida, where the marine park ranger station is located. This would give us a chance to catch manakins in a new place for the metapopulation segment of the study, as well as being something of a working vacation. Lionel was a bit tipsy, but Frank says his offer is genuine and he'll take us there, feed & house us, and bring us back. Frank also suggested that Lionel could grease the wheels of permits for work in Chiriqui.
