Panama [1] June caid] site: Isla Boca Brava weather: clear all day, some clouds, no rain Notes: It is difficult to explain to Frank Kohler the magnitude of what I'd like to do here. I'm trying not to blurt it all out at once or start plotting the housing for field assistants without letting them get to know me a bit, first. The island is beautiful, and teeming with lance-tailed manakins. Frank initially said that he had no C. lanceolata here, but his wife disagreed. On a quick walk around part of the island, I saw no fewer than 10 manakins. (much better than in Monteverde, where they seem to have gotten people-shy. I hope getting them doesn't result in the same shyness here. I saw ~4 definitive males, 1 immature male, and 5-7 females/ juveniles. I also heard many different calls and observed
